Day trips from Toronto are all about packing a picnic, and packing in as much fun as humanly possible without logging too much car time. The great news: there are an incredible number of options! Here are a few of the best:
Explore the caves of Eramosa. It’ll take about an hour to drive to Eramosa Karst. While you won’t find the deep caverns you’ll find elsewhere in Ontario, this is the closest cave system to the city, and there are so many nooks and crannies to discover, you’ll get lost in the wonder. You’ll also find lovely streams and waterfalls.
Toronto boasts some amazing spas, but if you want to work it into a getaway and unwind in a truly stunning location, Scandinave Spa is a day-tripper’s dream. There’s a registration system for the baths, preventing overcrowding, and although it’s a bit of a hike, it’s that much more worth it when you arrive.
Get a li’l taste of wine country! The fact that Toronto is so close to Niagara wine country is unimaginably cool if you’re a lover of wine. Not only is the landscape gorgeous from spring straight through to fall, but going wine tasting is both a learning experience, and really, really fun. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a great spot with plenty of wineries to choose from, and so is Beamsville.
