Being a resident of Mimico has an impressive list of advantages, and we’re not even including the possibility of living in the On The Go Mimico project, so that should say a lot!
You really do get the best of both worlds in this varied district of shops, bakeries, cafes and restaurants, because the community also happens to enjoy broad access to a range of lush parks and lakefront trails. Mimico Waterfront Park, for instance, boasts 1.1km of waterfront trails, headlands, cobble beaches, a cute little bay, boardwalks, and even wetland habitats.
The Montgomery’s Inn Farmers’ Market takes place every Wednesday from 2 to 6 in the historic Montgomery Inn, which once co-existed with a 400-acre farm. Today the market exists in its place, and offers local and organic produce, meat, preserves, and much more. Oh, and they’ve got live music and a picnic area to boot.
The annual Grace Jerk Food Festival takes place from Aug 5-7 this year in Centennial Park. AKA the JerkFest, this jubilant occasion celebrates Caribbean culture, combining jerk food, rhythmic music, family-friendly entertainment, and very good vibes.
Can you believe that fall is already sorta on its way? Not to fret, because the festivities don’t evaporate as the seasons change. The Taste of the Kingsway Festival, this year from Sept 9-11, offers you a delicious opportunity to explore international cuisine, top-notch entertainers, and mouth-watering marketplaces!
Mimico also happens to offer a truly incredible roster of community-organized events, the likes of which will make anyone feel at home. Try art classes, workshops on everything from business tips to reflexology, outdoor yoga, comedy shows, and more!
